John R. Casey, Jr.'s Obituary
John R. Casey, Jr., 82, of Culpeper died Monday, June 24, 2019 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1937 in Washington, DC to the late John and Hope Batcheller Casey.
John followed in his father’s footsteps and as a young man he worked for the Evening Star Newspaper as a machinist. He then worked at Aerojet for 30 years as a senior process engineer. Upon his retirement from Aerojet, John pursued his calling to work in law enforcement. He was the former police chief in Remington, VA and he finished out his law enforcement career as a Sheriff’s Deputy for Culpeper County. John mentored many in law enforcement, always had time for a story, and never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, June MacLean Casey; three children, John R. Casey, III, Elizabeth Rigsby (Scott), and Emily Casey; two stepchildren, Shauna Tucker (Rah), Sean MacLean (Sandra); one sister, Dr. Catherine Casey (Kit Ryan); close friend, C.T. Hibbs (Renee); his niece and nephew, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his beloved dog Tank.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wife, Diane Casey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Department Charitable Fund, 14023 Public Safety Ct., Culpeper, VA 22701.
