John William Brown Sr.'s Obituary
John William Brown, Sr., better known as “Pete”, joined his parents, Willie and Laura Perryman Brown, in heaven on his birthday, March 31, 2023. He was 77 years old. He was comfortably at home surrounded by family at his sudden passing.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol Sue Tomblin Brown. Together, they have raised four children, Jan Gaunt, John William “JW” Brown, Jr., Willie Brown, and Jennifer “Jen” Brown. He is survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Rosa Smith, Edna Renaud, and Laura Ann “Pookie” Page; two brothers, Neil Brown, Steven Brown
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Brown.
Pete lived a humble life as a carpenter, as his father before him. He worked hard to provide all a growing family could need and was always there to offer a helping a hand to those that needed it.
Pete’s love for bluegrass music was undeniable for those that new him. His love for the fiddle was inspiring and up until his last days, he loved sharing his music and knowledge of fiddles to the kids of the Stevensburg Baptist Church.
Family night viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Stevensburg Baptist Church, 19393 York Rd, Stevensburg, VA 22741.
Interment will follow at Stevensburg Baptist Church Cemetery
A reception will be held immediately afterward to celebrate Pete’s colorful life at the church.
Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are Michael Perryman, Chip Frye, Joshua Myers, Christopher Brown, Toby Brown, and Jeremy Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler & Zack Miller.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Stevensburg Baptist Church to help with funeral expenses.
