John William Alther's Obituary
John William Alther, 87, of Luray, formerly of Sperryville died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at MontVue Nursing Home in Luray. He was born June 27, 1924 in Rappahannock to the late George and Lillian Clatterbuck Alther.
Mr. Alther attended the Pentecostal Church in Sperryville for many years.
He is survived by his siblings, Irene Frazier of Luray, Levi Alther of Front Royal, Roy Alther of Sperryville, and Nellie Alther of Sperryville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda May Ralls Alther, and three siblings, Alice Ralls, George Alther, Jr. and Elizabeth Alther.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11 am at Washington Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Charles Clinedinst officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Thornton Gap Regular Baptist Church, P.O. Box 32, Sperryville, VA 22740.
