John Herbert Akers, Sr.'s Obituary
John Herbert Akers, Sr., 91, of Culpeper died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born July 8, 1922 in Rocky Mountain, VA to the late Peter and Sally Belcher Akers.
Mr. Akers was an auto parts salesman for Culpeper, Orange and Warrenton auto parts stores.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Southworth Clough Akers; three children, Patricia A. Akers of Thomasville, NC, John H. Akers, Jr. of Williamsburg, and stepson, James O. Clough of Harrisonburg; one sister, Merle Prillaman of Roanoke; one brother, E.C. Akers of Blue Ridge, VA; three grandchildren, William Peyton Akers of Williamsburg, Ellen A. and Grace E. Clough, both of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora W. Akers and six siblings.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Randy Orndorff officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa.
