Joel Shelby Bounds' Obituary
Joel Shelby Bounds, 89, of Woodford, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at his home.
Joel was a founding partner of Colonial Builders of Fredericksburg with his son, Joel. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion of Beaverdam.
Joel was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher at Ladysmith Baptist Church. He loved hunting, woodworking and was a gospel musician.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois A. Bounds; two sons, Joel D. Bounds and his wife, Wanda of Florida and Shelby L. Bounds and his wife, Donna of Ladysmith; two daughters, Patricia B. Gandee and her husband, John and Audrey M. Davis and her husband, Kollon, all of Wooodford; 14 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
Joel’s family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Bethany Baptist Church, 6519 Marye Road, Woodford. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
