Jocelyn R. Connolly's Obituary
Jocelyn Irene Rountree Connolly was born in Norfolk, VA, the youngest of the three children of the late Robert E. and Marie Shaw Rountree. She is survived by her brother, Robert E. Rountree Jr. (Janet), and five nieces and nephews. Jocelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. Neville Connolly and her sister Maxine Rountree Saunders (Wesley), as well as her only child, Ricky, at the age of four.
The family moved frequently as a result of her father's Coast Guard career. In addition to the Norfolk area, other locations she lived included San Francisco during WWII and Falls Church after the war.
Jocelyn was a caregiver at heart - and in practice. After the death of Ricky, she worked in two doctors' offices, becoming friends with their families. She went to night school studying medical technology and later applied her gained knowledge at the Washington Hospital Center. An elderly friend who had no family lived with Jocelyn and Neville until her death.
A lifelong animal lover, she always had dogs in her life. About 20 years ago while living at Fairfax Station, she and Neville rescued two Premarin foals and eventually decided they needed more space (to rescue more animals) - and moved to their farm in Culpeper.
This world was made a better place due to the life of Jocelyn Rountree Connolly.
