Joan Hazel Taylor's Obituary
Joan Hazel Taylor passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by family in Haywood, Virginia, on July 9, 2026. Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, Joan was the beloved daughter of the late Archie and Frances Fincham ,,Dodson.
Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kind heart and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Joan never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel like family. She loved cooking for those she cared about, enjoyed playing poker, and could often be found bluegrass dancing with a smile on her face. Above all else, Joan treasured her family, who were the center of her life and her greatest joy.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Lynn Weakley (Frankie), Brenda Taylor, Jessica Neff (Larry), and step-daughter, Kathy Smith; her grandchildren, Josh Nichols, Bridgett Wilson (Steven), Jade Dennis, Brittany Weakley, Brenden Neff, and Colten Neff; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Ella Wilson; her siblings, Judy Sisk (Sam), Faye Turley (David), Sue King, Peggy Fant (Rick), Patty Jones (Brad), John Dodson (Ken Calcagnini), George Dodson (Lisa), Randy Dodson, Donnie Dodson, Archie Dodson (Kelly), and Steve Dodson (Denise) and sister-in-law, Peggy Dodson.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Robert Lee Taylor, her brother, James Dodson who welcomed her into eternal rest.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to a special friend, Paul Fincham, for the love, kindness, and unwavering support he showed Joan and her family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 6pm to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia. A funeral service celebrating Joan's life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 1 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, with Michael Tinsley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Etlan Cemetery, 230 Church Hill Rd, Etlan, VA.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Weakley, Larry Neff, Ryan Dodson, Brad Jones, Dwayne Wharton, and Roger Anderson.
