Jim Tharp's Obituary
James Jim Burton Tharp, 82, of Colonial Beach died on Friday, June 29, 2007 at his residence.
Jim was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. He then went on to work for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, and retired after 36 years with the Dept. of the Navy as a budget officer.
Jim was the son of the late Rev. Cammie and Grace Tharp.
Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Tharp; two daughters, Allison Pike, and her husband Bob, and Candace Scheytt and her husband, Don; three sons, Daniel Honaker, Richard Honaker and his wife, Kathy, and Scott Shepherd; two sisters, Frances Everson and Elaine Veltri; one brother Scott Tharp; and his grandchildren, David, Billy, Kevin, and Jimmy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2007 from 2:30 to 4:00pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels - Cremation Service, corner of Courthouse Road and Southpoint Pkwy where a funeral will be held at 4:00pm with the Rev. Lance M. Bacon officiating. Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA. on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 10:00am.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of doantions to the Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
