Jim Bishop's Obituary
In the early evening of Monday, June 11, 2007, with his wife, daughter and son-in-law at his side, James Patrick Bishop gently entered the awesome presence of the Lord Jesus Christ to forever dwell in the fullness of the Holy Trinity.
Jim was the eldest son of Guy and Dolly Bishop of Russellville, Ala., where he spent his youth.
He is survived by his wife, Millie Mab Bruce Bishop; his son, Patrick Bruce Bishop; his daughter, Susan Heather Bishop Stoddard; and his granddaughter, Olivia Chandni Bishop. He also is survived by his mother, Dolly F. Kirkpatrick Bishop; sisters, Janet Bishop Tor-stenson, Vicky Bishop Nixon and Angie Bishop Kimbrough; brothers, Tom Bishop, William Bill Bishop and Frank Bishop; 14 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and -nephews; and aunts and uncles.
Jim was employed by Southern Bell, the L&N Railroad and, over the last 32 years, was with Parsons and other engineering firms relating to the Washington, D.C., rapid transit system. During that time, he consulted on numerous projects in the United States and elsewhere, the most distant being Shanghai, China.
Jim was an exceptional man in a multitude of ways and will be sorely missed by family and numerous friends.
Until we meet again.
A funeral will be conducted by Pastor Paul Harfst at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Sylvania Heights Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Sylvania Heights Baptist Church, 150 Church St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22408.
