Jesse William Myers' Obituary
Jesse William Myers, 75, of Elkwood died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his residence after a long battle with pulmonary disease. He was born February 11, 1936 in Elkwood to the late Dorian Garfield Myers and the late Orella Mae Thomas Myers.
Jesse retired from VDOT in 1991 after a 33-year career as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was member of the Milam Hunt Club in Lignum and First Century Baptist Church in Stevensburg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria Ann Settle Myers. He is also survived by a daughter, Wanda Sue Myers Loane and a grandson, Travis William Loane. Additional survivors include nine brothers, Dorian Myers, Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Fredericksburg, Lonnie Myers and his wife, Neva, of Elkwood, George Myers and his wife, JoAnn, of Remington, Archie Myers and his wife, Nancy, of Lignum, Douglas Myers and his wife, Libby of Spotsylvania, Calvin Myers and his wife, Gail, of Culpeper, Ricky Myers and his wife, Joan, of Lignum, Kyle Myers and his wife, Donna, of Unionville, and Anthony “Tony” Myers and his wife, Diane, of Lake Helen, Florida,. He is also survived by five sisters, Anna Brown and her husband, Buddy, of Lignum, Margaret Brown and her husband, Bob, of Fredericksburg, Bonnie Weedon and her husband, Butch, of Montana, Linda Jefferies and her husband, Cecil, of Culpeper, and Audrey Watson and her husband, Ronnie, of Lignum.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a son, Jesse William Myers, Jr., a sister, Rose Myers Willingham, and a brother, Wallace Myers.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia, with Pastor Lee Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lignum.
Pallbearers named are Mr. Myers’ nephews, Doug, Randy, Darrell and David Myers and Charles Brown, Jr., and his grandson, Travis Loane.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Century Baptist Church, 19111 Batna Road, Culpeper, VA 22701.
