Jerome Edward Hester Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Jerome “Jerry” E. Hester, Sr. 62, of Neptune, New Jersey passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA. He was born May 6, 1947 in Neptune, NJ.
Mr. Hester was educated in the Asbury Park, New Jersey School System and attended Brookdale Community College. He served in the Army with the 3rd Battalion 506 Infantry 101st Airborne and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and was a member of the American Legion #266 in Neptune, New Jersey. Mr. Hester was a Supervisor at the United States Post Office of Neptune for over 40 years and retired in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Flora Johnson and two brothers, Steve Johnson and William Johnson Jr., both of New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Hester of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two daughters, Bridget Hester of New Jersey and Nicole Taylor of Virginia; a son-in-law, Cody Taylor of Virginia; one son, Jerome E. Hester Jr. of New Jersey; one sister, Wanda Johnson of New Jersey; his devoted mother-in-law, Mayfree Hagerman, of New Jersey; his brothers and sisters-in-laws, William and Irene Johnson, of Delaware; Daryn and Deborah Ramsey of New Jersey; William “Hameed” and Patricia Hagerman, Jr. of New Jersey; his close relatives, Fred and Gloria Wiltshire, of New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Jerry’s family will receive friends Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 10:00-11:00 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 pm with prayer at 7:30 pm and eulogy at 8:00 pm at Calvary Lighthouse, 1133 E County Line Road, Lakewood, NJ, 08701. Refreshments will be served in the Hospitality Room.
