Jeffrey W. DeShields' Obituary
Jeffrey W. DeShields, 60, of Culpeper died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1953 in Norfolk, VA to the late Leamon and Mary Ann Withers DeSheilds.
Jeff was a man of many talents. He was a master floor mechanic, built and ran Enduro race cars and restored classic muscle cars. He was an avid NASCAR fan and had a great love for animals, having rescued many over the years. Jeff was a loving husband and hard worker. He will be remembered for his big heart and his willingness to go the extra mile.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Elizabeth Sims; his cats whom he considered children; one sister, Gina Beiler and her husband, Paul of Virginia Beach; and his wife’s family, Sonny and Jeanette Sims of Locust Grove, Cindy Sims of Culpeper, Edgar Sims of Brightwood, Joe and Amanda Desper and family of Zebulon, NC and Tammy Desper of Charlottesville. Additional survivors include two nieces, Jennifer Terwiliger and her husband, TJ, and Tracy Sharon and her husband, Tom; two great-nephews, Ryan Herington and his wife, Katharina, and Alexander Ziemann; and a great-great-niece, Reagan Herington. He was only days away from the birth of a new great-niece, Carly Marie Sharon.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 12 pm at the home of Cindy Sims, 1160 Virginia Avenue, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Brad Hales officiating.
