Jean Elizabeth Morris' Obituary
Jean Elizabeth Morris, 82, died Saturday, September 18, 2021, at UVA Culpeper Medical Center. Born in Old Hollow, Sperryville, she was the eldest daughter of Roy C. and Mary Magdalene (Bowen) Dwyer. She graduated from Rappahannock County High School in 1957.
She began her working life as a secretary for the United Mine Workers of America; she also worked as an executive secretary for the National Rifle Association and the Central Intelligence Agency. After moving to Spruce Creek, PA, in the mid-1980s, she opened the Trout and Grouse, a bed-and-breakfast that catered to fly fishermen.
She is survived by her son, Barry Atchison and his wife, Bette, of Culpeper; her daughter, Renee Atchison Ziegler and her husband, Greg, of State College, PA; grandchildren, Rebecca, Henry and Sam Ziegler; her sister, Ruth Kiger of Sperryville; a niece, Angela Giles; a nephew, Matt Kiger; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Tucker Morris; an infant brother, Leon; and brother, Jerrel Dwyer.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Loretta Clatter and Debbie Sisk for the loving care and support they gave Jean during the final years of her life.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 25 at Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.
