Janie Pearl Pritchard's Obituary
Janie P. Pritchard, 90, of Spotsylvania County, VA, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Janie was born in Angier, NC to Willie Lee and Nannie Mae (nee Washington) Bradsher.
Following her graduation in 1952 from Rolesville High School in Rolesville, NC, Janie came to the Washington, DC area to visit her sister Minnie, who introduced her to her future husband Maurice. Janie and Maurice were married at Fort Myer, VA in April of 1953 and were married for 70 years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, they returned to North Carolina until Maurice accepted a position with the National Security Agency, located at Fort Meade, MD in 1955 and resided in Glen Burnie, MD. The family moved to McLean, VA in 1965 before relocating to Spotsylvania, VA in 1992. Janie worked as a pharmacy clerk at Galley’s and Preston’s pharmacies, located in Arlington, VA and the Medicine Chest in McLean, VA. She also worked as a sales clerk at Legacy and Lady Legacy of Fredericksburg, VA.
Janie enjoyed a variety of activities throughout her life. She liked bowling (duck pins), luncheons with the Red Hatters, line dancing, reading romance novels, shopping, collecting toothpick holders, and traveling with friends and family, especially trips to the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Theresa O’Brian (Dan); son, Russell Pritchard (Cathy); and grandsons, Michael O’Brian, Kyle O’Brian, and Craig Pritchard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice.
The family will hold a celebration of life later this year.
