Janie Atkins' Obituary
Janie A. Atkins, age 73, died Thursday, November 24, 2010 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born July 5, 1937 to the late Berl and Alice Baker Atkins
She was a member of Thornton’s Gap Regular Baptist Church where she was the treasurer and Sunday School teacher for many years.
She is survived by her sister, Josie Alther and her husband, Roy of Sperryville, four nephews, Steven Alther, Roy A. Alther, Dennis Ralls, Jr. and Jimmy Hitt, four nieces, Ann Pullen, Dorothy Mee, Peggy Dodson and Betty Settle, four great nephews, Roy A. Alther, Jr., Joshua Alther, Matthew Ralls and Jerry Frazier, nine great nieces, Amanda Pullen, Melissa Geer, Stacey Campbell, Joy Alther, Debbie Hunley, Pam Knight, Pat Moore, Cheryl Merkel and Tammy Rosini, and three great great nephews, Jacob Geer, Emily Grace Alther and Daniel Alther.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Ralls and Anna Marie Atkins and one brother, Edward Atkins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kirby Shenk and Pastor John Burke officiating.
Interment will follow in Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Alther, Steven Alther, Roy A. Alther, Matthew Ralls, Dennis Ralls, Jr., Duane Pullen, Nick Campbell and Roy A. Alther, Jr.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.
