Janice Lavell Catlett's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janice Lavell Catlett, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us and joined our heavenly father on November 13, 2024 at the age of 55. Known for her infectious laughter, unwavering kindness, and boundless love, Janice touched the lives of all that she knew, and that was many.
She was a devoted daughter to Roger and Carol Catlett, a loving sister to Sara (Marc) Schweigert, brothers, William (Andrea) Catlett, Roger (Samantha) Catlett Jr, and a cherished aunt to her nieces, Ava Schweigert, Cassie and Tyler Catlett, and her nephews, Trevor Schweiget and Harmon Catlett, as well as uncles, Earl Catlett, Allan Catlett, Junior (Susie) Curtis, Ronnie Curtis, an Aunt Melissa Seay, and great aunts, Edith Pritchett, Arnell Steckler, and Lorace Coe and many, many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, T.C. and Mary Catlett, Maggie Curtis Tranium, Haywood Occie Curtis and Archie Tranium. She was also preceded in death by her sister Carol Leigh Catlett.
Janice had a passion for gardening and taking care of her home and lawn, a passion for politics, a love for family gatherings especially on big holidays that were celebrated in her childhood home, her weekly dinners with her mom and dad, hanging out with her close friends, a huge love for her daddy's bacon and biscuits, and spoiling her nieces and nephews, which she adored more than life itself.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2024 at Eley’s Ford Baptist Church, 10401 Ely’s Ford Road, Fredericksburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with a reception following at the church.
Pallbearers will be Roger Catlett Jr., William Catlett, Marc Schweigert, Philip Catlett, Anthony Catlett, Micah Catlett, Robert Catlett and Timmy Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Band of Parents, a childhood cancer organization that funds innovative research and clinical trials for neuroblastoma, 2248 Broadway #1009 New York, NY 10024 or www.bandofparents.org
