Jan was my sorority little sister at Old Dominion and also a bridesmaid in my wedding in 1970. We were in high school together and lived not too far from each other. She was always warm and caring with a great smile. I am sad over her loss to your family and share prayers for her and your family.

Jan was my slightly-older first cousin. She was beautiful, smart, and I thought almost perfect; I looked up to her and wished I could be more like her. Sadly, we lost touch after our teen years. I only recently heard about her illness and wish I had had more time to reconnect with her. But that was not to be. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your untimely loss.

Jan and I were friends since 1st grade. We grew up together, laughed together, shared secrets together. We played, we partied, we hugged, held hands and we always loved each other even as time went on and our lives grew separate. We held each others babies, were there for each other in joy and sadness. We ate tuna fish sandwiches and....

Despite the distance between us in the last years I have and will always love you Jan.

Dear Tom and family - I met Jan for the first time on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at a Rappahannock Rotary social. My husband and I had been traveling that day and we arrived late to the party, just as others were leaving. I was happy to meet Jan and I was immediately aware of her kind soul. I thought, "This is someone I would like to get to know." When I took her right hand, I did not know that she had been fighting this dreadful disease for five years. I am so sorry to hear of her death and know she will be sorely missed. The photos here are wonderful...such good memories. I will keep you in my prayers. Beth Dorn
