Janet Leigh Bennett's Obituary
Janet Leigh Rider Bennett, 61, of Culpeper, died Saturday, June 18, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born October 7, 1960 in Culpeper to the late Charles and Elizabeth Leake Rider.
Janet graduated from the Culpeper County High School and later was employed in the county’s school system. Her first employment began at Drug Fair and later at J. J. Newberries and Rental Uniform. She loved art and was an avid gardener. She always had to feed everyone as she loved to cook. Janet was a wonderful mother to her children and always did whatever their interests were. She never met a stranger and patience was her virtue.
She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Arthur “Art” Howard Bennett; her three children, Arthur “A.J.” Bennett, Jr. (Sandee Miller ), Megan E. Collum (Tyler) and Austin Bennett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sonny and Bettie Bennett; two brothers, Johnny Rider (Kathy) and Chuck Rider (Cent); sister-in-law, Sonya Dempster; brothers-in-law, Irvin Bennett (Jackie), Tim Bennett (Deidre), Ray Bennett (Keen) and Kyle Bennett (Louise); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Leake Rider.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Found and Sons. The family would like to invite those unable to attend in person to join via livestream at

Interment will follow at Etlan Cemetery, 230 Church Road, Etlan, Va.
The family wishes to receive plants to start a memorial garden for Janet. Casual dress and bright colors preferred.
