Jane Lyall Stewart's Obituary
Jane Lyall Parsons Stewart passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Greenfield Assisted Living of Fredericksburg where she had lived comfortably since September 2011.
She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, September 8, 1926. Her husband of 60 years, James, preceded her in death. She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha Jane Stewart of Fredericksburg, and Susan Alice Morgan of Alexandria; three grandchildren William Calvin Forbes of San Francisco, Sara Jane Morgan of Fairfax and Adam Stewart Morgan of Fairfax; and two great grandchildren, Zoe Frances Forbes and Ian Calvin Forbes of San Francisco.
Jane was a quintessential Marine wife. She traveled with her family from coast to coast in the United States and as far away as Chinhae, Korea. She made every house a home for her family. She absorbed the culture of every new duty station and infused it in her family’s daily living. She was an excellent cook and gardener. She enjoyed playing bridge and bowling. She was an active member of many Officers’ Wives Clubs during her travels. When her husband retired from the USMC, Jane returned to the world of work outside the home as a dental assistant. She received much praise for her work ethic and her skills. Upon full retirement, she and her husband looked to Fredericksburg to build the home where they lived happily for twenty years. Most notably, Jane was a care giver. She will be remembered for her loving care of her husband, her two sisters, her daughters, her grandchildren, her great grand children and the many, many family pets that arrived at her door step over the years.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 in the Semper Fi Chapel, at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, 18900 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Triangle, VA. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Jane’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to a local area food bank.
