James E. Jacobs' Obituary
James E. Jacobs, 92, of Culpeper died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 19, 1917 in Madison County to the late Charles Andrew and Kate Beahm Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs moved to Culpeper in 1939. He served his country in the United States Army spending a majority of his time in Africa and France. He was a longtime member of Culpeper Free Methodist Church now known as Church on the Rise. Mrs. Jacobs was an avid gardener and farmer who loved growing and giving away his vegetables. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and had a passion for winning souls to the Lord. Mr. Jacobs had the most amazing memory, being able to remember everyone and every detail he’s ever encountered throughout his life. He was best known for his friendly face, black cowboy hat and in his later years spent his time walking the isles of Wal-Mart where he never met a stranger. He will be remembered as a sweet, kind hearted man and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Sisk Jacobs, one sister, Ella Savee and four brothers, Thomas, Robert, Russell and Earl Jacobs.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Church on the Rise, 1136 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Baker Rigg and Pastor Mark Cook officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper V.F.W. Post #2524.
