James Andrew Jenkins' Obituary
James Andrew Jenkins, 102, of Culpeper died Friday, September 7, 2007 at Our Father’s House Christian Home in Inlet. He was born January 8, 1905 in Madison, VA to the late Hezekiah and Lovella Aylor Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Hattie Doggett Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins was an equipment operator at Virginia Department of Transportation for 47 years. At 102, Mr. Jenkins is the last of his siblings. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
James is survived by a son, James A. Jenkins, Jr. and his wife, Betty, and a daughter, Nancy J. Dwyer and her husband, Arthur, all of Culpeper. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Vicky Weakley of Culpeper, Teresa Dwyer of Stanardsville, David Jenkins and his wife, Susan, of Poughkeepsie, NY, Rev. Mark Jenkins and his wife, Tara, of Culpeper and Steven Jenkins and his wife, Sarah, of Mechanicsville. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jessica Dwyer, Benjamin and Beth Jenkins, Megan, Mikayla and Morgan Jenkins and Daniel and Nathan Jenkins.
Other survivors include two special friends, Eddie Hitt and Rebecca Delf.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 10, 2007 from 7-8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Jenkins and Rev. Phillip Walker officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Lions Club International Foundation, 300 W. 22nd St., Oak Brook, IL 60523, please note in the memo for eye site projects.
