James Samuel Toliver's Obituary
James Samuel Toliver was born in Fauquier County, VA on April 9, 1943 to the late John Henry and Anna Matthews Toliver. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the University of Virginia Medical Center following a critical illness.
James and his family lived in the community of Remington and Rixeyville, VA as a youngster. At an early age he was baptized and became a member of Nazareth Baptist Church in Boston, VA where he maintained his membership until his death. He attended school in Rappahannock and Culpeper County school systems.
James held many jobs during his life and was known as a good and stable employee. James was a caring man and feared the Lord. He especially enjoyed watching Jeopardy and westerns, collecting coins, die casted cars, was a Redskins fan, tractor pulls and loved his canine buddy. Additionally, he enjoyed hanging out with his buddies at Hillside Motors in Culpeper. James immensely enjoyed and loved his family. We love you and we will miss you!
James leaves to cherish his memory his longtime companion of thirty plus years, Laura Thompson; one son, Darryle Samuel Toliver (Glenetta); two daughters, Carolyn Elizabeth Toliver Robinson affectionally known as “Pinky” and was given this name by her Dad at birth (Dallas) and Christin Mildred Jackson; one sister-in-law, Mary Louise Toliver (Thomas–deceased); thirteen grandchildren, James R. Toliver Jr., Roger Lee Toliver, Daysha L. Robinson, Dallas L. Robinson, Jr., Darryle S. Toliver-Monroe, Dalvon L. Robinson, Ryan O. Toliver, Sarah K. Toliver, Kirstin I. Kiszonas, Kamyiah I. Kiszonas, Caiden L. Anglin, Donnell Douglas Jr., and Quention Smith; eleven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other devoted relatives and friends and his beloved canine, Pee Wee.
He was preceded in death by his son James Roosevelt Toliver; one granddaughter, Dalleta L. Robinson; and siblings, Lucy Toliver, John H. Toliver, Jr., and Thomas L. Toliver, Sr.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Rev. James Mack officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
