James Edward Starkes' Obituary
James Edward Starkes, 90, of Orange died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born January 20, 1926 in Orange to the late Roy Perkins and Ruth Starkes.
Mr. Starkes was a member of Mt. Holy Baptist Church in Unionville.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Puller Starkes; six children, Roy Starkes and his wife, Betty of Culpeper, Lorraine Starkes of Washington, DC, Joyce Starkes, Carolyn Minor and her husband, Rocky, Ruth Thomas and James Starkes and his wife, Lisa, all of Culpeper; one brother, Howard Hart and his wife, Alfreda of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Rosa Lee Moss of Springfield, OH and Delores Page of Washington, DC; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, James Starkes, Jr. and Jean Banks; one brother, Harry Hart; one sister, Harriet Morgan; and one grandchild, Bernadette Banks.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel. 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Derrick J. Mathis, Sr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
