James Chaffin Pritt's Obituary
James "Jimmy" Chaffin Pritt, 58, of Spotsylvania County, VA, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 12, 2023, of a pulmonary embolism.
Jimmy was born March 25, 1965 in Fairfax, VA to James E. and Dorris (Nelson) Pritt Jr. He spent most of his young years on the baseball field and basketball court, playing band, on the water fishing and in the woods hunting. He graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1984.
Jimmy was a jack-of-all-trades through his careers with employments from gas station attendant to bus driver to mechanic and most recently as a transporter for Atlantic Fence in Ashland, VA. When Jimmy wasn't working, he spent most of his time attending sporting events of his family or at Dominion Raceway both on and off the track, or in garages with his sons building and/or repairing race cars for the upcoming races. Jimmy has been a fan of NASCAR as long as anyone can remember and he began racing in the late 80's. He was known for his #9 pink and white Pinto making left turns at Old Dominion. Jimmy continued his racing legacy through his sons and raced with and against them at Shenandoah Speedway and Dominion Raceway.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Amie Boddie of Morgantown, WV; three sons, Ryan (Amber) Pritt of Fredericksburg, Joshua (Tatiana McLaughlin) Pritt of Ruther Glen, and Jonathan (Raven Rowley) Pritt of Ruther Glen; his 13 grandchildren, Patrick, Connor, Liam, Aiden, Jayleigh, Jayce, Jeremiah, Julian, Ryder, Lukah, Landon, Kennedy, and Elliana; his former wife, Kelly Moore; his sister, Stephanie Pritt of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and niece, Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jr and Dorris; older brother, James III; granddaughter, Gianna; and former wife, Patricia Lynn Basso.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at Dominion Raceway, 6501 Dominion Raceway Ave, Woodford, VA 22580.
