James G. Marangoni's Obituary
James G. Marangoni, "Mr. Jim", 75, died at his home in Castleton July 11, 2010 after a long battle with Cortical Basal Ganglionic Degeneration. He was born October 11, 1934 in Princeton WV, moved to Norfolk 1944, to Falls Church in 1956 and Rappahannock in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of 55 years, two children, James L. Marangoni & wife Nancy of Stephenson, VA and Catherine Lane & husband Wayne of Castleton, VA; his siblings, Louis Marangoni and wife Marie of PA; Edward Marangoni and wife Sandie of VA;, Fred Marangoni and wife Stephanie of Va; 5 grandsons, Bryan and wife Mara; James C. and wife Julie; Bruce Marangoni; Danny Lane and wife Kelley; Steven Lane; 3 great grandchildren Erin and Abby Lane; Bryan Marangoni Jr. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guido and Mary Marangoni and 2 sisters Santina and Betty.
James served 3 years in the Army and 22 years with the CIA in communications.
James was a member of Castleton Volunteer Fire Company for 8 years, a member of the Lions Club, and a former deputy under Col. Knuepfer with the DES in Rappahannock County, and volunteered his technical experience with computers for the Rappahannock Sheriff's office. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church and served as a Deacon and many other positions in the church, and helped with Rappahannock Loan Closet.
In Jim's forever loving and caring way he has donated his brain and body to research for this debilitating disease (CBGD).
He was fortunate to have had help from Home Instead (with the wonderful caring employees like Teri Sowell who spent the most hours with him) through the VA Hospital and with Hospice of the Rapidan and their wonderful Volunteers.
There will be a memorial service on July 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church, 180 Gay Street, Washington, VA 22747.
