Jim and I were train riders together on the VRE commuter training, I was a CWO, USCG and Jim a retired USCG "mustang" LCDR . Great guy had a lot of discussions. I think the most fascinating story he ever told me was about as High School class ring that he lost water skiing up in Minnesota in 20 or so 30 years later somebody found the ring traced it to him and it was sent to his house and one day he came on board the train with this ring on his finger and says "look at this" and he told me the story. Another story was one of the told about a winter up in South Dakota that snow so much they were buried and it took days to dig out. We kept in contact after I was transferred from the DC area and I was going through some old sent mail just this morning and noticed that I had sent one back in the early 2020 that he never responded to. So a little search and it brought me here. My condolences to the family seems one of those guys have will never forget. And I certainly will never forget his high school ring story which I have told on several occasions.
