James "Jimmy" Ronald Kovi's Obituary
James “Jimmy” Ronald Kovi, 66, of Reva, Virginia passed away Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 at his cabin.
Kovi, as many of his friends called him, was a man that saw the good in a person’s character, regardless of their past or where they came from.
He was likewise loved, by many people young and old, from near and far.
Jimmy is survived by his mother, Phoebe Compton (Paul); sons Cody and Jamie Long; grandchildren Maddox, Kaya, and Nox; sisters Kelly Compton Bailey (Mike), Brandy Lemaster, Marie Kovi; brother Paul Compton II (Danielle); Mary Kovi (John), as well as a host of nieces, nephews and beloved dogs.
He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Kovi of Grayson, KY.
Jimmy was an entrepreneur spending much of his life as a stone mason (Kovi’s Masonry). He also endeavored in buying and selling antiques, as well as preparing barbecue, and crafting his famous “Grumpy Jim’s Sauce.”
He loved nature, committing his free time to fishing, hunting, and spending his life in the woods where he loved to watch the bears roam and climb the trees in front of his cabin.
Jimmy was a very generous person who believed in enriching the lives of others whenever he was fortunate enough to do so.
He spent most of his life giving and his greatest wish in passing was to continue doing so encouraging contributions, in lieu of flowers, to go towards St. Jude’s Hospital where he was a lifelong donor.
Jimmy was not a fan of goodbyes. As in death much as he was in life, he drifted away leaving us not with a goodbye but “we’ll see ya later.”
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
