James "Jimbo" Robert Skinner Jr.'s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James R. Skinner, Jr. at his home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, after a battle with ALS.
“Jimbo” was born on January 5, 1963, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was the first-born son of James and Maggie Skinner who, along with his sister, Bonnie Kiebert, preceded him in death.
Jimbo was a talented painter who owned and operated Skinner’s Painting in the Fredericksburg Area. He was known for his fast, reliable, and dependable service but also for his kindness. He would greet his customers and his family alike with a heartfelt “Hey Now” every time he saw you.
Jimbo’s pride and joy laid in the eyes and hearts of his grandchildren. From playing on the floor, offering snacks, taking them fishing to never knowing how to tell them “NO.”
Jimbo is survived by Patricia Miles who loved him immensely for 32 years and took complete care of him throughout his illness. He is also survived by his children; Robert (RJ) Skinner and Ashley, Brian Skinner and Jennifer, and Jamie Pritchett and JW. Grandchildren; Henry Skinner, Jackson & Austin Skinner, and Ben & Abby Pritchett; along with many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. The burial will be private.
The family wishes to thank the hospice nurses and staff for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ALS Association in Jimbo’s memory.
