James "Jim" Robert Peyton's Obituary
James “Jim” Robert Peyton, 82, of Boston, died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1942, in Rappahannock County to the late William Silvey and Mary Eliza Hitt Peyton.
Jim worked for Tyco (Rochester Corp) as a machine operator for 41 years before retiring. He was a past volunteer at Salem Volunteer Fire Dept as a support member. Jim was baptized at Thornton Gap Regular Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed 50 years of hunting with his son, Jeff, loved going to car races with his son, Kendal, and attending Capitals hockey games with his daughter, Penny. Jim liked cooking pork barbeque, and every fall he looked forward to making apple butter with the Settle family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nina Mae Peyton; three children, Carolyn “Penny” Peyton (James Frigiola), Jonathan “Jeff” Jeffrey Peyton (Carol), and James Kendal Peyton; three grandchildren, Kamry Payne (R.W.), Hannah Peyton, and Ava Peyton; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Warren “J.W.” Payne and Beau James Frederick Payne; two siblings, Betty Woodard and Andy Peyton (Julie); and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by three siblings, Mary Frances Cooper, Elizabeth “Pee Wee” Smoot, and Marion Peyton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Daniel Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Rixeyville, VA. Pallbearers serving the family will be Patrick Martin, Neal Fairfax, Jamie Wright, Dave Munn, Ray Peyton, Mark Settle, Charlie Nicholson, Greg Martin, and Joey Brown.
