James "Jim" R. Pennell's Obituary
James “Jim” Ronald Pennell, age 70, of Bealeton VA, departed his earthly life on Friday, April 17, 2026. He was born in Lincoln Borough, PA on November 23, 1955, to his late father Robert D. Pennell Sr. and mothers Helen J. Tasker and Zenona “Nonnie” C. Pennell.
Jim loved life like no other! He loved working outside, sitting on the edge of the water or in a boat casting a fishing line, being in the woods hunting, or just sitting in the sunshine on a beautiful day. He was a lover of music, spending much time playing the drums, dancing, and singing along to his favorite songs. The thing he cherished most, however, was his family, whom he adored. He was outgoing and ready to meet and befriend anyone that would strike up a conversation with him, and those friends soon became members of his family. Jim always had stories to share about his many adventures in life like the deer that got away or the fish that broke his line. He also loved to tell you about his family and friends and how they were succeeding in their lives. Even on your worst days, if you encountered Jim, he had a way of bringing a smile to your face, brightening your day, and to leave you always wanting more. His smile and laugh were contagious and lit up any space he entered, indoors or out. To know him was to love him and his presence will be missed by the many people that knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Brown and Elizabeth "Betty Kay" Pennell; sister-in-law Eileen Pennell of Elizabeth PA; brother Kenneth Pennell, nephew, Marc McLellan, great nephew, Nathan Klein; and the two loves of his life Cynthia Gigliotti and Carolyn Lehnen who he loved and missed so much.
He is survived by daughters, Megan Bowles (Nathaniel) of Unionville VA, Sarah Owens (Michael) of Pulaski, VA, Liza Pennell of Orange County Va; sons, James Pennell (Amanda) of Bealeton, VA, Nathaniel Pennell (Stephaine) of Victoria, TX; sisters, Julie Kallok (Mark) of Donora, PA and Bobbi Lucot (Vincent) of Glassport PA; brothers, Daniel (Jeanie) Pennell of Perryopolis, PA, Thomas Pennell (Liz) and Donald Pennell of Elizabeth Township, PA, Robert Pennell Jr. (Deborah) of Dunbar, PA, William Pennell (Tina) of Lincoln Borough, PA; grandchildren, Zachary (Baylee), and Dr. Emmett Roman Kaiser (Alicia), Sierra and Kaleb Johnson; James (Alyssa Beavers), Ethan, and Lucy Pennell; Tyler, Makayla (William “Dustin” Thorn), and Jordan Breckley; Gavin Pennell; Lillian, Roman, and Gabriel Owens, great-grandchildren Parker and Dustin Thorn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
