Leroy was a few years older than me as we grew up in Duo WV, but he was very nice to everyone, even the obnoxious brats like me. I always had great admiration for him and my mother loved him dearly because he was courteous and thoughtful to everyone., especially adults.
He saved my life when I was 12 years old. Several of us were a half mile from home when I tripped on a rusty piece of Barbed wire fence and got a 6 inch cut deep into my leg which was bleeding profusely. He tied his shirt around my leg, threw me over his shoulder and ran home with me. A neighbor 's brother, visiting from Chicago (Bud Franco) , put me in his car and drove me ten miles down the mountain to the doctor, who revived me and got me cleaned up and to the hospital for blood and additional care. He credited Leroy's action with saving me.
I'll always be grateful, love and appreciate him.
Our love to Lois and all his family at this difficult time.
