I HAVE KNOWN JIM SINCE 1978 WHEN HE CAME TO WORK WITH ME AT LE FLEUR FLORIST IN SUITLAND,MD. OVER THE YEARS WORKING TOGETHER WE BONDED AND HAD SOME VERY REWARDING AND CREATIVE TIMES PUTTING TOGETHER MANY CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSES OR FLOWER SHOWS. I REMEMBER MANY WONDERFUL WEEKENDS SPENT WITH HIM AND PETE IN CULPEPPER. HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY MANY. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE DEAR FRIEND. PETE YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. MICHAEL HARE
Jim was one of my very first mentors at BFS over 24 years ago. An incredibly kind person, and very brotherly. Even when he began to travel with the company, and we would see less of him, it only made it that much more of a treat to see him when he would occasionally stop by our office. Jim was one of the "originals" at BFS, from a time when we were known as Builders Supply and Lumber, and only consisted of a small handful of locations. He participated in the development and implementation of our regional expansion for many years before moving up to be a part of the national corporate team. Jim is remembered fondly, and my thoughts are with Pete, the Wrays, and the rest of his family.

We met Jim through our shared interest enjoyment of taking care of bluebirds at Mtn Run Lake Park. Jim and Pete have been good friends of ours. At the slightest mention of a need, they have been there to help. Jim’s been quiet spoken, but knowledgeable about so many practical topics. His love of being with folks and talking about most anything but especially the history of his hometown of Culpeper always shone through.

Jim was like a big brother to me. He was always 100% there when I needed him and gave 100% until the issue was resolved. We spent many, many, years together building the company to what it is today. He was a gift and I consider myself very lucky to work with him and call him my true friend. He will never be replaced and never forgotten.

May peace and comfort find you during this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy
