James Melvin "King" Gilbert's Obituary
James Melvin “King” Gilbert, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, surrounded by family at his home in Catlett, Virginia. Born August 4, 1950, he was the son of the late Alexander “Alex” Gilbert and Martha Jane Cheatham Gilbert. James was the eleventh child in a union that included fifteen children.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Miko.
King leaves to cherish in his memory his beloved long-time and dedicated companion, Vanessa Richards; three sons, Joshua, Ellis, and Orlando; two daughters, Wanda and Nita; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends.
The visitation and memorial service will be held at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, with the Memorial Service to follow.
