James Alexander Fasano's Obituary
James “Alexander” Fasano, 28, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2025, at his home in Ruther Glen, Virginia.
Alex was born in Gainesville, Florida, in 1997, while his parents attended the University of Florida. The son of James and Julie Fasano, Alex’s childhood was spent in Hampton Roads and Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he was surrounded by his family, including his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Since childhood, Alex was happiest when reading a book; a weekly trip to the library was his favorite summertime activity. He also took joy in nature, whether hiking wooded trails, camping, climbing, backpacking or swimming. As he matured, you would often find him playing the piano or his saxophone, listening to music, or enjoying a craft cocktail and good food with friends and family. He especially enjoyed a night out for Mexican and queso. He loved his time at James Madison University, especially as a member of the Marching Royal Dukes. He had fond memories of his saxophone family, attending football games, fencing, and marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
Alex is survived by his wife, Mackenzie Fasano; his parents, James and Julie Fasano; his sister, Sophia Fasano and her husband Grady Roberts; his grandparents, Joan Way, Gioia Norton, Kevin Norton, Joanne Norton, David Paden and Janet Paden; his aunts and uncles, Chris and Shannon Collins, John and Erin Paden, Kevin and Nikki Norton, and Aaron Paden; his cousins, Carson, Michael, Sean, Arlo, Elijah, Elliot, Oscar, Eagan Abigail, and Solomon; and many other loving family and friends.
Though his time here was far too short, Alex lived with a fullness many never reach. His family takes deep pride in the man he became and the joy he spread in just 28 years.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at Strangeways Brewing, 350 Lansdowne Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401 to celebrate Alex’s life, with an opportunity to share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests spending a day in the mountains or simply reading a book in Alex’s honor.
