James Ronald Dennis Sr.'s Obituary
James Ronald Dennis, Sr. (Ronnie), 75, of Leon, VA, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at his daughter’s residence, surrounded by family. He was born, October 18, 1950, in Charlottesville, VA to the late John James Dennis and Frances Mae Woodward Dennis.
Ronnie dedicated six years of service to the United States Marine Corps, starting in 1969. He had a deep passion for music, frequently serenading family and friends with his singing and guitar playing. In his later years, he found joy in driving the bus for the Rappahannock Senior Center, where he became well-loved for his friendly smile and caring nature.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ada C. Dennis; children, Tonya Dennis Batchelor (Tim) and James (Jamie) Ronald Dennis, Jr. (Aimee); grandchildren, Matt Franklin (Amber), Megan Franklin (Richard), Daniel Batchelor, Hannah Batchelor, Caleb Dennis, and Molly Dennis; great grandchildren, Aiden Wheatley and Walker Franklin; sisters, Rose Foster, Mollie Welch, and Pasty Jenkins; brother, Steve Dennis; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Hitt.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 10, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Charles Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow at New Life Baptist Church Cemetery, 12302 Alum Springs Road, Culpeper, VA.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Jamie Dennis, Tim Batchelor, Matt Franklin, Daniel Batchelor, Matt Smith, and Michael Bowen.
Honorary Pallbearers serving the family will be Steve Dennis, Ben Compton, Jesse Edwards, and David Woodward, Jr.
