James Spurgeon Cooke's Obituary
James “Jimmy” Spurgeon Cooke, 83, of Richardsville, VA passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. He was born November 5, 1941, to the late Warren and Nancy Cooke in Washington, DC.
Jimmy enjoyed many things in life such as traveling with his wife, Marie, spending time with his grandchildren, watching his beloved Washington sports teams and UVA football. He dedicated more than 30 years working for the federal government. Jimmy was very passionate about his Grand National and dreamed about owning a corvette. He also loved to read and watch old time Westerns.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Marie Cooke; children, Brian Cooke (Jennifer), Doug Cooke (Sassy), John Cooke, and Dawn Wolfington (John); nine grandchildren, Daryl, Nicole, Hannah, Dalton, Skylar, J.C., Christian, Andrew, and Cameron; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Emma, James, and one on the way; his great-grand pup, Chewy; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Jaslyn, and his siblings, Robert Cooke and June Krintz.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Richardsville United Methodist Church Cemetery, 29235 Richards Ferry Road, Richardsville, VA 22736, with Pastor Mike Evans officiating.
Pallbearers serving the family will be his grandsons; Daryl, Dalton, J.C., Christian, Andrew, Cameron, and his great-grandson, Brayden.
