James A. Broyles Jr.'s Obituary
James “Bobby” A. Broyles Jr., 73 of Culpeper, Virginia went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 21, 2016 with his family by his side after an almost five year battle with Myelodysplastic syndrome. He was born on February 15, 1943 in Madison, Virginia. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents James Albert Broyles Sr. and Clara Jenkins Broyles, and his brother William "Buddy" Lewis Broyles. He is survived by his wife Linda Deal Broyles, two daughters Kristina Dolan Broyles of Richmond and Jamie Broyles Gonano, and her husband Max Anthony Gonano of Virginia Beach. In addition, Bobby's beloved niece Susan Broyles Alther, and cousins Jo Ann Ward and Jerry Fox.
Bobby was an active member at the Culpeper Baptist Church and enjoyed serving on the Baptism Committee, being an usher, and helping with the offering. He loved his wife and two daughters so much and their happiness meant the world to him. Bobby was a dedicated 48 year employee of VDOT and retired as a Concrete Supervisor in the Northern Virginia District. In his spare time he enjoyed cheering for UVA, the occasional round of golf with friends, and keeping his Corvette(s) looking flawless. He loved the beach, cherished family vacations, and waking up early to watch the sunrise. Memories of him will warm our hearts forever and be a constant reminder of the selfless husband, father, and friend that he was.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West St, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper Baptist Church with pallbearers Tony Tharpe, Jimmy Timberlake, Regie Lohr, Bill Gibbs, Doug Bayne, Curtis Brooking, Ralph Ruppard and Junior Meade; also serving as honorary pallbearer Billy ‘’Snuffy’’ Smith. Interment will follow at Robinson River Cemetery in Brightwood, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Culpeper Baptist Church - Building Fund, or Hospice of the Piedmont.
