James W. Blaine's Obituary
James W. Blaine, 74, of Spotsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.
James Ward Blaine, known to many as Jim, was born June 24th, 1948 in Washington D.C. to the late George Ward & Thelma Florence (Harmon) Blaine.
Early in life, Jim met his love, Cecilia Marie (Gardner) Blaine, whom he married on July 3rd, 1966. “Jimmy” and “Celia” (names used as endearment for each other) celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year. In passing, he leaves behind his faithful and devoted wife of 56 years and will forever reside with the Lord in heaven.
As a brother, Jim was preceded in death by his two brothers, George Sherman and Ralph Gordon Sr, and is survived by his sister Linda M (Blaine) Harrison (husband, Vince) and a host of nieces and nephews.
As a Christian father, he is survived by his four children, Wayne Anthony, Kim Marie (husband, George Brookman Jr.), Teresa Marie and Richard Ward (wife, Carly Marie) , who have the privilege of calling and knowing him as Dad.
As “PawPaw” and “Pa,” he leaves behind a blessing of 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Ellie Marie Blaine, preceding him in death.
No matter the name you called him, he was known as a hard worker. Jim successfully owned and operated his own appliance repair business, Blaine Appliance Service, for over 25 years in the Spotsylvania area. Jim then worked as a truck and movie-set driver in the years to follow.
Jim carried a lifelong love of Elvis Presley and Star Wars (especially Hans Solo). His favorite past times were family gatherings and getting to throw dice and shout “seven come eleven” in Las Vegas. He was a committed fan of the Dallas Cowboys and naturally rooted for any team playing against the Redskins.
A wonderful loving husband, incredible Dad and cherished friend. You are always loved, and forever missed.
To all who have known, loved, and cared for him. “Thank you, thank you very much.”
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
