Jacqueline June Utkin's Obituary
On June 1, 2023, we lost our beloved Matriarch, Jacqueline June Utkin AKA Momba. She spent nearly a decade living in Honolulu, Hawaii Prior to moving to Fredericksburg, VA around one year ago. She left paradise to be closer to us, her “babies”. She was born in Montgomery Alabama on June 26, 1947 to Jack Eugene Gilmore and Frances Rowina Holeman.
Jacqueline was a retired assistant principal and elementary school art teacher, for the Florida school system. She was an artist and loved nature and gardening. She had the kindest and Most generous heart. She loved helping others. She was also very hip and technologically savvy, She loved keeping in touch with her loved ones and friends through social media. She loved sharing photos and making “digital art “as she called it. She loved reading, writing, and all forms of artistic expression. She also loved Korean dramas.
Before leaving Hawaii, she was the sitting chair of the sons and daughters of Pearl Harbor. There she honored the memory of her late father, Jack E Gilmore, and many other soldiers and their families over the years.
She is survived by her only daughter Joleen Tinsley, her son Joel Blackwell, her Granddaughter's Rachel Gordon, Frances Morse, and Jackie Blackwell and by her Grandson’s, Miles Blackwell, Ian Blake, and Nicholas Blackwell, as well as 6 great grand kids.
She adored her family, or as she put it, her dynasty.
She was preceded in death by her first born, beloved son, Joeseph Howard Blackwell JR., Her infant grandson, baby Joel, her mother her father and her grandparents.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Sister Lisa Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to The Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors at sdphs.org.
