At eight days old, Jacob was the first child to receive a heart transplant at the University of Va Medical Center and was known to many as the UVA Baby. Jacob was a very special young man who touched the hearts of all who met him. He always brought out the best in everyone with his heart of gold and personality that would bring a smile to anyone’s face. Jacob loved football, basketball, wrestling, computer games, jumping on the trampoline, and listening to music. He would spend many evenings watching television with his loving and devoted mother, playing Fantasy Football with his brother, or just enjoying playing a good game of crochet with his father and family that loved him so much.
In addition to his parents, Jacob is survived by his sister, Dawn Harding and her husband, Jacob of Madison, and his brother, Shawn Compton of Rixeyville. Jacob’s grandparents are Lewis and Virginia Compton of Rixeyville, Joyce B. Hicks of Culpeper, the late Thomas Elmo Hicks, and his great grandmother, Laura Ruth Brown of Leesburg.
Jacob was also dearly loved by his two nephews, Isaiah Paul and Jonah Calvin Harding, and his niece, Isabella Noelle Harding of Madison. He was also loved and will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his pets “Rocko”, “Hannah”, “Holly”, and “Buster Thomas”.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 6, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Preacher Charles Shifflett officiating. Flowers would be appreciated and can be sent to the funeral home.
