Jack Edward Urion's Obituary
Jack Edward Urion, who formerly resided in Laurel, MD for 42 years, passed away on November 23, 2019 at his home in Mineral, VA, at the age of 87.
Jack grew up in Swedesboro, NJ where he was involved in sports and Boy Scouts, having earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated in 1949 from Swedesboro High School and in 1953 from Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College) in Westminster, MD. Jack served in the U.S. Army and retired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 1996. He was an avid sports fan and played four years of college baseball. He enjoyed spending time by the water with family and friends at both the Jersey shore and their home on Lake Anna, VA. He sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church in Laurel, MD and Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church in Mineral, VA. He was a past member of the Belmont Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, JoAnne (Lacy) Urion; devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Edwin Hinson of Sykesville, MD and Susan and Richard Roling of Alexandria, VA; and grandchildren, Nathan Roling, Lacy Roling, Brian Roling, Leslie Hinson, Carla Hinson and husband, Tyler Schlachter, and Julia Hinson; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church at 16420 Monrovia Road, Mineral, VA 23117. Jack’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
