Jack Andrew Flynt's Obituary
Jack Andrew Flynt of Sterling, VA, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend quickly passed from this earth on September 22, 2016 while getting ready for hunting season, which aside from his wife and daughters was what he loved the most. Jack, aka “Poppy", was born in Marfa, TX, on April 26, 1945, and was raised in Falls Church, VA. He resided for most of his adult life in Sterling, VA. He was a Pressman for The Wall Street Journal, Baltimore Sun, Washington Star, and Washington Post. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jean C. Flynt of Sterling, VA; his brother and sister David Flynt (spouse Emily Flynt) of Mt. Airy, MD, and Sharon Wilson (spouse Edward Wilson II) of Savannah, GA; his daughters Amy R. Flynt of Alexandria, VA and Janet L. McCormick of Milwaukee, WI; his sons-in-law Jeff M. McCormick and Adam W. Dawson; grandchildren Dylan M. McCormick, Kailani M. McCormick, and Iris D. Dawson; and his ever loyal dog Barnum. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Flynt, brothers George Flynt and Bill Flynt, mother Betty Rhodes, and dogs Jill and Bailey.
Jack was an outdoorsman who never missed an opportunity to be out in the woods hunting or fishing. He taught his wife, daughters, and grandchildren how to fish and instilled that same love of the woods in them. Jack loved his family above all, and anyone that knew him could see it.
The family is planning a memorial service for November.
