Jack Ellsworth Buttgen's Obituary
Jack Ellsworth Buttgen 83, of Stafford County, beloved father, grandfather, and uncle, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born March 31, 1930 in Stafford, to Mr. Louis Buttgen and Bessie Alene MacGregor.
Jack graduated from George Washington High School in Alexandria and joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War, though he didn’t serve in country, Jack was quick to say, “I fought the Battle of New Jersey”.
Jack was a member of the Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 Son of Confederate Veterans and the Major General John Bankhead Magruder Chapter #258 Military of the Order of Stars & Bars.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond K. O’Connor of Arlington and Robert L. O’Connor of Spotsylvania; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Margarete Ludmilla Buttgen.
Jack’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mary Washington Home Health & Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg is handling the arrangements which are incomplete at this time.
