Irva Walker Southard's Obituary
lrva Walker Southard, 92, of Culpeper, VA, died Thursday, November 23, 2022 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, VA. lrva was born on June 28, 1930 in Locust Dale, Madison County to the late Irving J. and Bernice Hensley Walker.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Southard Kirby and husband Les of Mechanicsville, VA and son, C. Gregory Southard of Culpeper, VA; grandchildren, Jonathan Kirby, Kristopher Kirby and wife Karissa, all of Mechanicsville, VA, Blair Pullin of Calabash, NC, and Zackery Southard of Locust Grove, VA. Nickie Phillips of Fredericksburg, VA and Cami Shook of Greer, SC.
Great-grandchildren, Shane, Heather, Karson, Aydan, and McKenna Kirby, all of Mechanicsville, VA and Kinsley Southard of Locust Grove, VA, Avery, Lucas and Mikayle Phillips and Radlee and Remi Shook; sisters, Vera Somerville of Mitchells, VA, Vivian Colvin of Richmond, VA and Ellen Graves of Locust Dale, VA; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Walker of Warrenton, VA and Ruth Walker Bond of Glen Allen, VA. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, lrva was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Southard; daughter, Teresa L. Southard; grandson, Justin Chad Pullin; brothers, Harold (Buddy) Walker and Louie R. Walker; and sister, Barbara A. Walker.
lrva worked for many years for Carpenter's Seed Plant in Mitchells, VA and Communications Corporation of America in Boston, VA. lrva was a member of Culpeper United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA with Rev. Bernie Jernigan officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Culpeper Rescue Squad or Culpeper Fire Department or your choice of charities.
