Irene Kilby Timbers' Obituary
Irene Kilby Timbers, Woodville, Virginia, gained her heavenly wings on Friday, June 13, 2025, surrounded by her four daughters. She was born July 29, 1931, in Peola Mills, Virginia, to the late John Henry and Mary Ella Smith Kilby. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bell W. Timbers; two sons, James E. Kilby, Sr., and Melvin Timbers, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Mildred Timbers and Polly Dennis; brothers Wilson Kilby, Willie Kilby, Charles Kilby, and John Kilby.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Irene Christine Timbers, Mary Ellen Timbers, Frances Laverne Miller (Steven), and Gail Elizabeth Timbers (Thomas); two daughters-in-law, Florence Kilby and Bridie Timbers. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Cynthia Muhammad (Sherman), Melvin Timbres Jr., and Justin Timbers (Raechel). James Kilby, Jr. (Nartasha), Frances Harris (Robert), Brooklyn Timbers, Kameron Timbers, Sophia Timbers, and Simon Timbers. Additionally, she leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren: Shaquinta Hackett, D’Andre Sykes, James Kilby III, Jakwon Kilby, Jamere Kilby, Ciara Kilby. Justin Carreras, Robert Harris, Jr., Skylar Harris, Brooklyn Timbers, Kameron Timbers, Sophia Timbers, and Simon Timbers. She also leaves behind 3 great, great-grandchildren, August Hackett, and twins Brielle and Ezra Hackett. Sister Irene also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and treasured friends.
Sister Irene joined Nazareth Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville, Virginia. At Shiloh, she served as Head Deaconess, Secretary of the Hospitality Committee, Secretary of the Missionary Board, and attended church service and Sunday School on a regular basis.
She was a stay-at-home Mom and homemaker. After all her children became adults and had lives of their own, she did occasionally work outside of the home, doing catering events with her friends and doing domestic work on other occasions.
Sister Irene served on the Board of the Scrabble School Preservation Foundation. After the school was refurbished and became the Rappahannock County Senior Center, she became an active member at the site. She was known as a Corn Hole champion, avid bingo player and crafter. Her memories will be cherished by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 20, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 15 Red Oak Mountain Road, Woodville, VA 22749. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
