Mrs. Irene Burnham Owens' Obituary
Irene Burnham Owens “Nanny”, 73, of Culpeper died Friday, February 26, 2010 at her residence. She was born January 18, 1937 in Remington to the late William Wade and Elizabeth Fincham.
Mrs. Owens was a member of Hazel River Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening and had a passion for taking care of others, having cared for over 40 people throughout her lifetime. Most of all she was dedicated to her family being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by four children, Ella Dovell and her husband, Robert of Bealeton, Linda Montalto and her husband, Paul of Madison, WI, Mark Burnham and John Burnham, and her nephew who was like a son, Michael Lee Kerns, all of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include her twelve grandchildren, Jamie Dovell, Robyn Hayzlett, Justin Cadenhead, Paul Montalto, Jr., Samantha Burnham, Joseph Burnham, Steven Leavell, Savannah Leavell, Kelsey Glascock, Matthew Glascock, Jessica Allen, and Allen Drake and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Gerald Burnham and Roy “Pete” Owens, her daughter, Deborah Cadenhead, five sisters, Janie Doggett, Virginia Ruanne, Hommie Jenkins, Lula Mary Clifton and Ethel Keyser, and two brothers, LeeRoy Fincham and Harrison Fincham.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Hazel River Assembly of God, 14383 Hazel River Church Rd., Culpeper, with Pastor Steve Dodson officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701 &/or the H.O.P.E Center, 501 Sunset Lane, Culpeper, VA 22701.
