Irene Bodolay's Obituary
Irene Adams Bodolay, age 90, was called home to the Lord on August 12th at the Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center, Culpeper, Virginia, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born a first-generation American to Hungarian immigrant parents, the late Joseph Toth and Julia (Borzi) Toth on June 30, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Irene’s Hungarian heritage was an integral part of her life; she was a member of The First Hungarian Reformed Church in Cleveland for many years. She retired from The Gibson-Homans Company where she was employed as a Bookkeeper for over twenty years.
On July 26, 1947 Irene married William F. Adams who preceded her in death in December 1967. On November 1, 1971 she married Louis Bodolay of Warrensville Heights, Ohio and was again widowed in February 1985.
Irene is preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Joseph Toth (Erna), William Toth (Betty), Frank Toth, and Anna Sabo (Louis); her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Rose Adams; and, her Godchildren Louis J. Sabo and Carol (Adams) Sarnese.
Irene is survived by: her daughter Barbara Adams Barclay, widow of Lt. Col. Richard C. Barclay, USAF (Ret); Grandchildren Tammy Barclay Buckalew (Daniel) and Matthew Richard Barclay (Kristin); her Great-Grandchildren Laura Elizabeth Buckalew, Peter James Barclay and Felicity Rose Barclay; her niece and nephews John Adams, Byron (Sue) Toth, David (Joyce) Adams, Gary Toth, Kathleen Sabo and Bruce (Karen) Adams; and, her sister-in-law Emily (Toth) Jewel.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 19th in Highland Park Cemetery, 21400 Chagrin Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio 44122, Section 15. Irene’s grandson, Rev. Matthew Barclay, will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
