Imogene graduated from Culpeper County High School in 1974. Shortly after, she started her own family and became a homemaker. She loved her two daughters and put her career on hold until her children began school.

She later changed her career path and joined Aberdeen Barn (known as Pepper's Grill) as part of the kitchen staff. After serving a number of years at Aberdeen Barn, she began her career at Walmart. Imogene worked for Walmart for 25 years, where she later retired. Imogene enjoyed working in retail and meeting new people.
Imogene enjoyed traveling. She loved taking cruises with her friends and family. She also liked playing the slot machines. She and her "road dog" Carolyn Carter would take off from Walmart to go to Charlestown to play.
