Hurley Carroll Banks, Sr.'s Obituary
Hurley Carroll Banks, Sr., 62, of Culpeper, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at his residence. He was born on January 11, 1945 in Alexandria, VA to the late Wilson Dawson Banks and Alice Veeney Banks.
Hurley was a past member of the Culpeper Masons for many years. He loved to sing and did so with a gospel group The Heavenly Gospel Singers. At an early age he joined and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Alanthus, VA and now attends Mountain View Church. Hurley was a hard working man. He retired after 40 years of service from Culpeper Regional Hospital, drove a truck for Culpeper Concrete and was a wonderful and talented painter for 30 years. He enjoyed the simple things like fishing, working in his flower garden, riding his Harley and playing cards. He truly loved his two granddaughters, his dogs Max and Queenie but above all his greatest love was for his God. His friendly smile and whistle will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Ruby Menefee Banks, his children Hurley Banks, Jr. of Rapidan and Alice J. Banks of Culpeper, two step children, Kanese Randolph of Chantilly and Edith Yeager of Charlottesville, two grandchildren, who were the sparkle of his eye, Aliyah Ty Banks and Daisia Lania Bailey, one step granddaughter, Candace Randolph, and the mother of his children, Georgia Banks.
Additional survivors include seven brothers, Clyde, Woodrow, Rudolph, Richard, Marshall, Larry and Lorenzo and four sisters, Peggy, Agnes, Annette, and Janette.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Donald.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind acts of sympathy and love during this difficult time. We may not be able to thank you all individually, but we sincerely know what a blessing you have been to our family. God bless you all.
