Hubert Wayne Maiden's Obituary
Hubert Wayne “Mickey” Maiden, Wayne Maiden, or Mickey as he was known to some, passed away after an extended illness on January 4, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carla Maiden nee Stinson; his two sons, Jason Maiden and Derek Maiden (Amber); three grandchildren, Austin Maiden, Kayleigh Maiden and Lilah Maiden; sisters, Eleanor Mahoney (Leo) and Billy Elliott (Warren); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Bessie Maiden; brother, Warren Maiden; and sisters, Patsy Ford and June Krupcale.
Mickey was an enthusiastic sports fan, an avid poker player and dedicated family man.
His life’s resume included 15 years as an ASAP counselor and almost as many as a Parks and Rec coach where he touched many lives and made big impressions.
While Mickey was no doubt proud of these accomplishments and would regale you with stories of the successful lives that his former clients and team members would go on to have, he was most proud of his family. Mickey could always be counted on to have at least a few “dad jokes” at the ready and absolutely loved the groan that they would undoubtedly bring about. Some of his favorite activities included playing poker tournaments with Carla and Jason and trying weird sushi with Austin and Derek.
The family is holding a memorial service on Saturday, January 14th at 4pm at 2708 Salem Church Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. Parking is available in the adjacent lot at 2632 Salem Church Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. There will be an informal service where friends and loved ones can share their memories of Mickey followed by a fellowship dinner.
For those that wish to partake in one of Mickey’s favorite past times, there will be a Texas Hold’em tournament immediately following dinner. Mickey HATED formality, so please wear your most comfortable attire.
